Want a sure-fire way to eat better and lose weight? Of course you do. And because I'm such a good friend, I'm going to share this little secret with you instead of writing a book and making millions :)
It's called the Baby Diet. I know, it's a terrible name. It doesn't involve eating babies but eating what your baby eats. MJ's been eating table foods for quite a while now, but I stopped preparing special foods for her about a few weeks ago. Now, she eats what we eat. Nothing will give you a wake up call about all the crap you eat like considering feeding it to your kid. I'm just not okay with starting off her young life with processed foods soaked in perservatives. In these past weeks, I've pretty much eliminated that stuff from our house, and we're all healthier for it.

Totally agree w/ ya. I have a 3 yr old and a now 1 yr old. we started eating healthier when we had our 1st and now w/ the 2nd we eat even better. My hubby and I still have a sweet tooth but we eat that after the kiddies are in bed. Ha!! We have rid our home of HFCCS and hyrdo oil. Yuck!!! I did not realize how much of that stuff was in normal stuff.
I thought about this yesterday as I fed gracie yogurt with fresh blackberrys, apple slices and a rice cake for lunch..... I on the other hand ate pizza.... why do I feed myself as well as i do her.
I too have felt a little guilty for eating my not so healthy dinner while my baby eats a vegetarian diet. I just started using a little of our leftovers to make a meal for Emily, so I think as I move toward having Emily eat what we eat, it will make me watch what we're eating. Having a baby definitely makes you more congnizant.
I agree with everyone's comments. My baby just turned 1 and I'm so careful about what I feed her. Yet, I'm not overly careful about what I eat. I do watch what I eat in front of the girls. If I don't want them eating it, I also wait until they're in bed so they don't see it! Ha, ha! Oh well, I'm trying right??
I've been really careful about my diet for the last 6 months or so (I'm 8 mos preggers) and I gotta say - I feel better, I look better (even with the big tummy) and I'm gaining exactly what my midwives would want for a pregnant woman.
My sister in law only eats what her son eats (he's 15 mos) and they're both doing great - really healthy, growing well (she's preggers again), not getting sick, etc. I only hope I have the willpower to do the same when I'm not BF'ing...
